Holiday by the sea
Štinjan is a quiet tourist place situated in a seaside resort on the south-western coast of the Istrian Peninsula, near the city of Pula and Brijuni National Park. It is far away from the city noise and heavy traffic. The largest and most beautiful beach is sandy, peblly and rocky with very good aproach to the sea for children. The place has all the facilities required for tourists: more grocery stores, restaurants, coffee bars, tennis club, diving club, sailing, cycling, church.
Description of the surrounding area
THE CITY OF PULA is the largest city in the County of Istria. It is situated on the south-western coast of the Istrian Peninsula. It is widely known for its well-preserved ancient buildings, the most famous of which is the 1st century amphitheater, commonly known as the Arena, which is still used during the summer film festival and various other cultural manifestations. The other two significant and well-preserved structures are the Triumphal arch of the Sergeii and the Temple of Augustus built in the 1st century AD. Pula is well connected with the surrounding towns and islands by roads and sea and there is an international airport which connects it to many European cities.
BRIJUNI NATIONAL PARK Brijuni National Park is a group of 14 islands and islets with Mediterranean vegetation which offer a sense of untouched nature. Ethno Park and Safari Park with numerous native and exotic animal species are located on the islands. It is possible to visit the islands by taking an organized tour from Fažana which is 2.5 km away from Štinjan. You can also take a panoramic sightseeing tour of the islands by boat. The closest islands, St Jerolim and Kozada, can be reached from a small harbour in Štinjan which is next to Brioni (exPuntižela) motor camp.
